Rostec has Delivered New A-50U Radar Aircraft to the Russian Aerospace Force

Ruselectronics holding and United Aircraft Corporation have fielded another upgraded A-50U long-range radar scanning and guidance aircraft system. The airplane can detect new types of aircraft and is capable of tracking simultaneously more targets and co-operating fighters than the previous version. Due to utilization of the state-of-the-art instrumentation, the aircraft weight has been reduced, while the flight range and mission loiter time have been increased.

The upgraded aircraft is outfitted with new higher performance and response time electronic equipment to improve the functional software capabilities. New larger LCDs with higher resolution used in the aircraft have improved the radar environment display system performance and the advanced aircraft ergonomics is intended to reduce tactical aircrew fatigue. The A-50U is also equipped with a new attitude and heading reference system.

“A-50U long-range radar scanning and guidance aircraft system is an aircraft necessary for modern combat conditions. The upgraded aircraft has obtained new equipment designed to increase the flight speed and air, ground and sea target detection range as well as countermeasures efficiency. The aircraft has been upgraded under the AEW aircraft fleet renewal program included in the state defence order,” said Rostec’s representatives.
