In 2023, the State Defence Procurement Program for the Research Institute of Steel Grew by Three Times

The Research Institute of Steel increased the amount of work completed as of the end of 2023, including the work under the state defence procurement program, by three times compared with 2022. To achieve the state defence procurement targets, several new production areas have been arranged and the volume of specialized production has been doubled.

In particular, batch production of the fielded explosive reactive armor system for BMP-3 has been launched, and mastering of signature reduction system batch production for the T-90M, T-80, BVM and T-72B3 tanks has been started, development of this system for other military vehicles is continued. Moreover, the company has set up batch production of new explosive reactive armor blocks, including 4S24 and 4S25. Generally, the Research Institute of Steel conducts more than 40 research and development programs to improve hardness of armored fighting vehicles.

The Research Institute of Steel has filled a new product niche where contracts are awarded for the development and manufacture of additional ballistic protection of soft-skinned special vehicles for several Russian law enforcement agencies.

Commercial production of two new civilian products has been launched – Egida bomb suppression blanket and Elbrus-T titanium helmet, demand for which is constantly growing.

Products under two international contracts have been supplied to friendly countries and work on new contracts for supply of products made by Research Institute of Steel to several friendly countries has been started.
