The unique French technology to be implemented at the Technology facility in Obninsk has three times the productivity of similar technologies now in use. FOREST-LINE machine tools would make the plant a Russian leader in manufacture of composite parts by automated placement technology.
RT Chemcomposites Holding Company has announced signing a strategic cooperation agreement with the French engineering company FOREST-LINE to acquire technologies and equipment for automated production of composite components for the MS-21 aircraft.
Negotiations were held during the international JEC CompositeShow 2013 in Paris last week.

Under the agreement, FOREST-LINE machine tools for automated placement of composite tape with a bi-phase cartridge and for automated composite braiding will be installed at Technology facility based in Obninsk, a central Russian city in the Kaluga Region. The French technologies significantly reduce waste of the expensive material, as well as opening opportunities for optimising structures and reducing weight by 3-5% compared with conventional automated placement systems.
