Rostec to Enhance Crimea's Energy Security

The Rostec State Corporation finalises the installation of gas turbine units at the Saki Thermal Station. Precommissioning works are being carried out at the power plant. The total power of units will be 90 MW. The new equipment will increase the reliability of power supply to the residential and industrial infrastructures of Crimea.

United Engine Corporation, a member of the Rostec State Corporation, supplied four GTA-25 gas turbine power units to be used as part of CCGT of the Saki Thermal Plant (Sakskie Teplovye Seti) in the Republic of Crimea. This will enable generation of 90 MW of additional power in the nearest future. The second phase is expected to be launched by late 2018. It will increase the plant's combined cycle power to 120 MW using four steam exhaust heat boilers and two steam turbine plants.

The GTA-25 units supplied to the Saki Thermal Plant are based on highly-efficient industrial engines PS-90GP-25 developed on the basis of aviation engines PS-90А designed for aircraft, such as Il-76, Il-96, Tu-204/214.

This is a unique experience for Rostec in installation/construction of combined cycle power plants of this capacity. As distinct from other plants being built in Crimea, the Saki Thermal Plant will generate not only electric, but also thermal power whose net cost will be lower than it is today due to the cogeneration cycle and cost efficiency of the equipment.
