VSMPO-AVISMA and Airbus Expanding Cooperation

The Russian titanium-producing corporation VSMPO-AVISMA and the largest European aircraft company Airbus have declared a new stage in the partnership relations. The companies have signed an agreement during the Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017 held from 18 to 23 July in Zhukovsky.

As part of the new contract VSMPO-AVISMA will supply machined blanks of various configurations for the pylon structure and landing gear harnesses of the A350-900 aircraft.

It is to be recalled that the Russian titanium-producing corporation was selected by Airbus as the supplier of new types of products for the A350 XWB (Extra Wide Body) project at the end of the tenders held in 2016-2017. This family of long-range wide body passenger aircraft has been developed by Airbus to replace A330 and A340.

The VSMPO-AVISMA corporation is a critical supplier of Airbus that satisfies about half of the company's needs for titanium products. The companies commenced their cooperation in 1990's when the first agreements for the supply of raw materials were signed.  In 2009, a long-term contract was signed for the supply of flat sections and round bars made of titanium alloys, as well as pressed articles for Airbus up to 2020.
