Kazan Helicopters leading in combat rotorcrafts export


Kazan Helicopters, a Russian Helicopters constituent, took a leading position in combat rotorcrafts’ export. The experts anticipate overseas procurement growth in 2013.

This year Kazan expects its deliveries to skyrocket. We estimate to supply approx. 38 Mi-17s to India and 10 to Afghanistan. So, regardless of small orders, we expect to procure almost 50 rotorcrafts to 2 countries.

According to the report on 2011 Russian arms export given by the UN, Kazan Helicopters became the leader in combat helicopters’ supplies.

45 exported rotorcrafts out of 66 were Mi-17V-5 produced by Kazan Helicopters.

According to Centre for Analysis of World Arms Trade, India received 15 machines (2008 contract on 80 rotorcrafts delivery at $1.35 billion), 6 to Indonesia (2007 contract on 12 helicopters at $70 million), 12 to South Sudan (2009 supplement to 2007 contract for $75 million), 9 to the USA (2011 contract on 21 helicopter at $375 million), 3 to Thailand (2008 contract at 29.1 million).  Not all the rotorcrafts were issued in 2011. Kazan Helicopters produced 94 machines in 2011. Rostov Plant, for example, procured 14 Mi-24s and 2 Mi-35s, Kumertau Plant supplied 5 Ka-31s.

Comparing to 2010 Kazan Helicopters more than ten times boosted its deliveries, the Business-online newspaper reports.

Kazan Helicopters is a Russian Helicopters constituent. The enterprise produces Mi-8/17 series. These helicopters are employed by more than 110 countries. The venture manufactures a wide range of the rotorcrafts of the series, such as transport, passenger, search and rescue, and other types.

Russian Helicopters is an international leader of the rotorcraft industry, the only designer and producer of the helicopters in Russia. The holding was established in 2007. The headquarters of Russian Helicopters is located in Moscow. The holding comprises 5 helicopter plants, two design bureaus, ventures producing and maintaining components and a service company providing after-sale support in and outside of Russia. The holding’s clients are Russian Ministry of Defence, Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russian Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Response; Gazprom Avia and Utair air carriers, large Russian and foreign companies. In 2011 Russian Helicopters’ IFRS revenues increased at 27.8% and amounted to 103.9 billion roubles and the deliveries reached 262 rotorcrafts.
