United Engine Corporation has created the NK-36ST-32, a new industrial engine, within the import-substitution program. This is Russia’s first 32MW solution for gas transport through main pipelines. An engine prototype is first showcased at the 14th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

“Rostec State Corporation is committed to meeting a strategic objective of ensuring national technological sovereignty in the most knowledge-intensive and high-tech industries. Modernization of the energy industry infrastructure is among them. Our UEC already produces the NK-36ST 25MW engine that is successfully used at energy sector facilities. However, 32MW power plants are currently the most demanded equipment for the gas sector. There have been no domestic solutions in this class before. The new engine will help solve the import substitution problem,” said Oleg Evtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec.

The new solution has increased power and high efficiency — 38%. It surpasses in these characteristics all Russian gas turbine engines for gas pipeline transport. Moreover, the new engine has a reduced fuel consumption per unit power — at least 6%, and a high assigned lifetime — 120,000 hours. Environmental friendliness of the NK-36ST-32 is its important advantage: the engine has a low-emission combustion chamber. Due to this, the new engine meets all environmental standards.
