Infocom-Avia and Aeroflot, the largest Russian airline, have made an agreement on commercial operation of a domestically-made aircraft-ground digital communications service (ACARS). The system meets all international standards, improves airline fleet operation efficiency and flight safety.

The Russian ACARS was developed by Infocom-Avia together with Azimuth (included in Rostec State Corporation) to replace foreign products that are not available for Russian airlines any longer due to sanctions. Exit of foreign providers have reduced the aircraft fleet utilization efficiency, economic loss of Russian airlines has grown.

Azimuth has developed the necessary equipment under the import substitution program. Information services are provided by Infocom-Avia. A ground station network was established for the main flight directions: north—south and west—east, and a data processing center was organized in Russia.

The Russian ACARS service provides digital aircraft message exchange. Real-time aircraft-ground data transmission helps transmit remote measurement data from an aircraft to the airline control center. Digital communication is used to exchange weather forecast data, other necessary information and instructions with aircraft crews, in particular, in critical situations.
