Azimut production company included in Rostec State Corporation has supplied the VOR/DME 2700 beacon to Armenia. The equipment is installed near Sisian. It will help airplanes orient in mountainous terrain and adverse weather conditions.

The VOR/DME 2700 ground-based omnidirectional range/azimuth beacon is designed to determine aircraft position with respect to the installation point. The beacon operates in the UHF band and can simultaneously track up to 200 airplanes. The equipment is recommended by ICAO as the main air route navigation system and as an additional approach navigation system.

“Azimut beacon has a good track record as reliable and durable equipment. It is currently successfully operated in Stavropol, Kaliningrad, Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk and other Russian cities, and at foreign airports. Now we have completed testing of the VOR/DME 2700 in Armenia, thus, allowing air route orientation in mountainous terrain and adverse weather conditions,” said Aleksey Galchenkov, General Director of Azimut.

Azimut is a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of aircraft navigation systems for airfields and airways. The company develops, produces and supplies commercial communications, navigation, landing, surveillance and air traffic control automation systems.
