Rostec’s Solutions have been Used in the Iranian Khayyam Satellite

Rostec’s temperature control and power supply components have ensured efficient performance of the Iranian Khayyam Earth remote-sensing satellite. The satellite is furnished with ultra-light-weight solar cell carriers, radiators and temperature control panels made by ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin. They will ensure reliable power supply of the spacecraft and stable operating temperature conditions for the onboard equipment.

Significant weight reduction while retaining the structural strength performance has been achieved due to the use of composites and improved assembly technique. Thus, the temperature control radiator has become 10% lighter compared with the previous equivalents and the weight per square meter of the solar cell carrier is only about 400 g.

The special Obninsk-made temperature control panels which serve as the satellite housing along with the stable temperature maintenance function have also contributed to the increased weight performance.

“Khayyam spacecraft – is an important project for space cooperation between Russia and Iran. Аnd it is also a landmark for Rostec because Khayyam is the 70th spacecraft put into orbit with ORPE Technologiya‘s components. The engineering and technology solutions used by our personnel for the Iranian project have proved their reliability during operation of the Russian-made Arktika, Kanopus series satellites, etc. The company will continue its development in this field – the planned high-technology product output for the Russian space industry is to grow by 30% during the current year,” said Andrey Silkin, General Director, ORPE Technologiya.
