Rostec’s Offshore Helicopter has Made the First Intercity Flight

Mi-171А3 offshore helicopter made by the Russian Helicopters holding, Rostec State Corporation, has made its first independent flight within the flight test program. The cutting-edge aircraft in its search-and-rescue version has arrived from the Moscow region to the Northern capital to be shown at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum SPIGF 2022.

The first intercity flight of the rotary-wing aircraft from the Mil and Kamov National Helicopter Center site was performed successfully – all systems worked satisfactorily.

Mi-171А3 has unique transportation capabilities in its class: maximum take-off weight of the aircraft is 13 tons, capacity is up to 24 seats. Maximum flying distance with main fuel tanks is up to 1000 km. Mi-171А3 is suitable for all-weather service in a wide range of climatic conditions, including marine, tropical and cold climates, at ambient temperatures from –50 °С to +50 °С. Moreover, the rotary-wing aircraft is furnished with an emergency water landing system at wave height up to 5 meters.

Mi-171А3 is the first Russian-made helicopter designed to perform offshore operations – carriage of passengers and goods over sea. It can fly over water areas to offshore drilling platforms far from the coast line and perform search and rescue operations. The design enables the helicopter to be converted from a search-and-rescue to cargo-passenger version by the operator.

The helicopter meets IOGP (International Association of Oil and Gas Producers) standards and the stringent requirements for overwater flight safety. Batch production of Mi-171А3 will be launched at the Ulan-Ude Aircraft Plant.
