Rostec has Started Deliveries of a Portable Radar for Detection of Drones Flying under the Radar

Ruselectronics holding included in Rostec State Corporation delivered the first portable multifunction radar (MFR) that is used to detect drones, including those flying under the radar or hovering. Trial run of the equipment is carried out in a safety system at one of protected facilities. Batch production is to be launched before the end of the current year.

New MFR developed by Rybinsk Instrument Making Plant (RZP, included in Ruselectronics) is designed for radar detection, identification and tracking of ground and water objects. MFR can “see” even the most stealthy drones hovering or flying under the radar and distinguish birds, animals or humans.

The radar can detect and identify targets at a distance up to 10 km on a 24/7 basis in any weather conditions. During testing, MFR has proved highly effective in achieving the set targets. The equipment uses only domestic hardware components.

“The key benefits of MFR are mobility, independence, short pre-operation time and identification algorithm used for reliable detection of various objects. It is important to emphasize surveillance security – the system can be placed at a distance from the surveillance point and, if detected, does not disclose the shelter. A small batch of products was output in December 2023 after preliminary testing. Six MFR sets have been already supplied to the customer. At this point, they are deployed and are being tested in a safety system at a protected facility,” pointed out Andrey Komogortsev, General Director of RZP.
