Ruselectronics and High-Precision Systems holdings together with Rosoboronexport have presented an advanced counterbattery system at the Army-2023 forum. The system can detect and locate enemy’s artillery positions at a distance up to 38km and then ensure their rapid engagement using automated fire-control systems.

The technical solution consists of Penicillin acoustic and thermal artillery-reconnaissance system and Planshet-A gun fire control system. The system may use any fielded artillery systems and MLRS to engage targets.

Penicillin system is designed for fire position reconnaissance of artillery guns, mortars, MLRS, surface-to-air rockets and tactical missiles. Compared with other similar products, the system does not use radar principles, but combines acoustic and thermal reconnaissance, which renders electronic countermeasures impossible.

The Penicillin records acoustic and thermal signals from artillery rounds and shell bursts, and then plots them on an electronic map. Planshet-A gun fire control system, which is integrated with the Penicillin, processes the received data, calculates fire mission settings and sends them to gun commanders for further counterbattery neutralization. Average target location and control cycle time does not exceed one minute.
