Rostec has delivered another batch of modernized 2S12A Sani 120mm mortar systems to the Ministry of Defence. Compared with the previous year, the output of these products has been doubled.

2S12A mortar system is designed to destroy the enemy by high-angle fire. It can be used to engage fire units and command posts, to destroy trenches and illuminate forward defended localities. Mobility of the Sani enables them to be used as “roving” mortars placed separately from platoons with permanent repositioning. Thus, the enemy is deceived as to the fire system and available combat power.

“We have delivered another batch of the up-to-date Sani mortars to the Ministry of Defence. These products have proved their reliability, efficiency and ease of use for execution of missions in modern combat conditions. The products are highly demanded, therefore we have increased the output. In 2023, twice as many mortar systems will be delivered to the Ministry of Defence than in 2022,” said Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of Weapons, Ammunition and Special Chemicals Cluster of Rostec.

The 2B11 mortar included in the Sani system has high rate of fire and fire accuracy with effective range equal to 7km. Thanks to the improved base plate, the gun has an all-angle firing capability and the quick-detachable firing mechanism does not require barrel removal during repositioning. The system ammunition is designed for more than fifty shots. The Sani may be used together with the Gran guided weapon system for precision target engagement.
