Rostec has Created the First Domestically Made Laser Target Shooting Simulator

Shvabe Opto-Electronics holding has developed a laser target shooting simulator. The absence of ammunition is the key benefit of the device made on the request of the Modern Pentathlon Federation of Russia. This makes the simulator cost-effective and safe for sportsmen and spectators even when it is used by a beginner. The first commercially available batch of 100 products will be provided to Russian sportsmen already this year.

The simulator consists of a beam pistol and a sensor target which is sensitive to the joystick signal. It allows to practice shooting skills using both static and moving target. The product is designed for a wide range of users regardless of age.

“The simulator differs from small arms in the absence of ammunition – rounds are not used for training purposes that ensures cost savings for the sports federation (customer) and makes the device completely safe for the trainees and spectators. When the trigger is pulled, a short-term (pulse) laser emission occurs which is recorded by the dedicated target. Standard volume of production is 1000 simulators annually with further expansion capability depending on the demand,” said Leo Borisov, Deputy General Director of Shvabe.

The first batch consisting of 100 target shooting simulators will be delivered to the customer – the Modern Pentathlon Federation of Russia. In future, the product will be supplied to sporting schools, shooting ranges and educational centers where small-arms training is provided.
