Rostec and MSU Expand Capabilities of the Angel diagnostic system

The Mechanical Engineering Concern of the Rostec State Corporation and scientists from the Lomonosov Moscow State University commenced the upgrade of the Angel automated diagnostic and therapeutic system for human life support.

The system that is compared to a "robot nurse" is designed to provide medical aid for initial diagnostics, human life support for the patients, and invasive administration of prescribed drugs.

The system's upgrade ensures expansion of diagnostic capabilities of Angel. For example, it is capable of generating and interpreting a synthesised 12-lead ECG, displaying the pulse rate of the patient, perfusion, photoplethysmogram, measuring blood oxygenation and temperature by two leads, respiration and pressure parameters, and monitoring the cardiac output rate.

These data are used by Angel to diagnose traumatic and burn shock in patients, intoxication, head injuries, radiation sickness, hemorrhagic shock, acute cerebrovascular accident, hypo- and hyperglycemic coma, bronchial asthma, arrhythmogenic disorders of cardiac functions, septic and cardiogenic shock, etc.

"The Angel system's upgrade will improve accessibility of medical aid in situations when there is a deficit of medical staff, such as technological disasters, emergencies, and in remote populated localities or during transportation of patients. The upgraded version of Angel will have a significantly improved set of functions, but at the same time it will become more compact, lighter and cheaper," noted Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director of the Rostec State Corporation.
