JSC Russian Helicopters has overhauled six Mi-17-1V military transport helicopters at the SEMAN Peruvian Air Force base over the course of two years. As a result, the helicopters have an extended service life of eight years and an overhaul interval of 2000 hours.

The Republic of Peru is actively utilizing previously provided Russian helicopters for various tasks such as transportation, search, and rescue of people in areas affected by natural disasters, fighting against drug trafficking as well as for humanitarian purposes like delivery of medical supplies, food, and clothing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Russian helicopter technology has served well in the Republic of Peru since Soviet times, and the USSR was the first country to help Peruvians after the earthquake in 1970. At that time, we provided the Republic of Peru with Mi-8 medical helicopters as a humanitarian gesture. Nowadays, there are over a hundred Russian-made helicopters operating in the country, therefore we feel that it’s very important to focus on their repair and modernization”, said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of JSC Russian Helicopters.

The versatile Mi-8/17 helicopters are highly sought after worldwide due to their reliability, functionality, and ease of maintenance. The design and equipment of the helicopters allow autonomous operation on diverse sites in virtually all climatic conditions, including high altitude and hot climate areas.
