United Aircraft Corporation and United Engine Corporation have started the flight test of the Product 177 engine as part of the fifth generation Su-57 system.

“The Su-57 has a good track record in real combat conditions and has proved compliance with requirements applicable to fifth generation aircraft systems, including stealth characteristics. The aircraft is expectedly of great interest to foreign customers and is already being exported. However, the Su-57 is continuously upgraded with due regard to the special military operation experience: capabilities of the weapons and airborne systems are being enhanced. The new engine, Product 177, with augmented thrust will additionally reinforce flight performance and provide a considerable reserve for further improvement of the aircraft,” said Rostec’s representatives.

The Su-57 multifrole frontline aircraft is designed to fulfill a wide range of missions. It is capable of engaging air, ground and sea targets. The aircraft can be used on a 24/7 basis, in particular in complex weather conditions and jamming environment. Due to its stealth capability, the fighter can kill targets notwithstanding modern air defence countermeasures.

The advanced Product 177 engine has been created by UEC for fifth generation aircraft systems. The state-of-the art engine has an afterburning thrust of 16,000 kgf. The new engine also features reduced fuel consumption in all modes and increased service life rates.
