The first domestically made laser scanner for the vehicle dimension and weight measurement system has been developed by the research and development institute of Shvabe holding included in Rostec State Corporation.
At this point the solution has successfully passed the first test phase. The scanner will replace similar foreign products. The scanner has been developed by Polyus Research Institute named after M.F. Stelmakh.
The instrument consists of a laser emitter, photodetector and scanning module enclosed in a single housing. It is capable of measuring the dimensions of any vehicles moving at a speed up to 100 km/h with an accuracy of 20 mm.
«Our devices will replace similar foreign products and they are necessary to equip the national motor roads under the Safe and High Quality Roads national project.» The in-house capacity will cover up to 80% of the domestic product market. The solution is now undergoing a test series. It was tested as part of an existing weight and dimension measurement system at the customer’s site during six months," said Oleg Evtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec State Corporation.
«Mainly European scanners are being used now on Russian roads. Domestic production will allow the foreign products to be phased out almost completely,» pointed out Vadim Kalyugin, General Director of Shvabe.
Polyus Research Institute named after M.F. Stelmakh is a leading Russian research center in laser technologies. Unique technologies for various industries are created and improved there.
