The fourth annual theatre festival "Tolstoy", traditionally held with the support of the state Corporation Rostec came to a close at the Museum-estate "Yasnaya Polyana", the ancestral estate of Leo Tolstoy.

This year, about 9 thousand people gathered to get acquainted with stage productions based on the works of the great Russian writer. The festival program included more than 30 events. Russian theatres, as well as theater companies from Bulgaria, Latvia and Abkhasia presented their rendition of the works of Russian classics author. The Chinese national theatre from Beijing took part in the festival for the first time with the project based on Leo Tolsoy comedy "the Fruits of Enlightenment".

The audience could get acquainted with the immersive performance, classical productions and modern interpretations of such works as "War and peace", "Childhood", "Resurrection", a special educational program was provided for children.

The festival ended up with the premiere of the Tula Academic drama theatre – the performance about the total lovelessness "Karenina" directed by Eugene Malancheva.

With the end of the festival creative work in the Museum-estate does not stop. From 21 to 26 July, with the support of Rostec, the art project "Yasnaya Polyana" will be held here.

"I think every one of our guests has discovered his own Tolstoy and received a completely unique experience, and the festival area has become a place of Association for people who love theatre and classical literature. And we, in our turn, already think how to please the audience next year. See you at the anniversary "Tolstoy" festival", - TASS quotes the words of the Director of the Museum-estate "Yasnaya Polyana" Catherine Tolstaya.

Let us recall that the first festival "Tolstoy Weekend" was held in September 2016, it was visited by more than 3 thousand spectators.
