In 2023, Ruselectronics holding produced and delivered to the customers more than one hundred Serp unmanned aerial vehicle suppression systems. The equipment is successfully operated at fuel and energy facilities and military-industrial complex of Russia.

Serp systems developed by Vector Research Institute, Ruselectronics holding, suppress drone control channels and disrupt the airborne receiver of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). As a consequence, the UAV operator loses control of the flight and the drone does not receive any information about its position in space and is not able to perform the flight mission independently.

The Serps ensure protection of the area within a radius up to 5 km and are capable of fighting with a swarm of drones. The system swath is subdivided into 90 degree sectors that are operated independently. Therefore one of the sectors may be disabled and own UAV may be used for observation.

Vector Research Institute engineers have expanded the Serp family capabilities by adding a drone detection function. The upgraded Serp-VS5D system is able not only to suppress UAV, but also to detect them using the integrated detector. The product is small-sized and mobile. The system was successfully tested at one of the power infrastructure facilities of Russia at the end of 2023.
