Rostec has Fielded a Batch of Upgraded Msta-S Howitzers

Rostec has delivered the first batch of new upgraded 2S19M2 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation within the state defence procurement program 2023. The upgraded Msta can be used in the artillery attack mode, has unique performance, including mobility, high rate of fire, firing capability with different types of shells.

2S19M2 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers are outfitted with an upgraded automatic guidance and fire control system (ASUNO-M) with improved accuracy characteristics and electronic map display functionality. The ASUNO ensures counterfire maneuvering with autonomous positioning, automatic calculation of firing settings from covered fire positions. Gun guidance and realignment are performed automatically. Direct laying firing is also possible in mountainous terrain. In addition, radar, thermal and optical signature of the howitzer is reduced. 

The 2S19M2 Msta-S is provided with a self-contained power supply unit with air conditioning add-on module designed to improve the crew environment. The driver now has the workstation to get the information on the status of all vehicle systems. 

2S19M2 self-propelled howitzer is designed to destroy and neutralize artillery mortar batteries, tanks, anti-tank, fire and electronic weapons, armored vehicles, control stations, air and missile defence systems, field entrenchments, and to deny infantry and tank reserve maneuvers.
