Rostec has Designed Seismic Pickups Sensitive to the Motion of Objects Hundreds of Meters Away

Ruselectronics holding, Rostec State Corporation, has developed a digital seismic monitor. The product facilitates detection of people or vehicles moving on ground or wetland hundreds of meters away. The system identifies the type and parameters of an object, records detection time and sends the data to the operator.

The digital seismic monitor has been developed by Sozvezdie Concern, Ruselectronics holding. The equipment consists of a pickup of max. 20cm in size, antenna and software compatible with any type of operating systems, including mobile devices.

The pickups detect motion, classify an object as a vehicle or person according to the nature of contact with ground, and send the data to the operator who makes a decision to respond.

“Ruselectronics’s system is used for protection of vast industrial areas and early warning of trespassing. Moreover, the seismic monitoring can efficiently supplement or even replace video surveillance, in particular, at long distances. Coverage radius of one antenna is 10km, it is able to control 50 to 70 pickups whose effective operation area is up to 400 meters,” said Rostec’s representatives.

The device is totally enclosed, moisture-proof and resistant to differential temperatures. The system is powered by a stand alone battery that can last for up to 30 days in any conditions. The equipment can temporarily switch to a backup link, if required, preventing an interception attempt.
