Due to the difficult epidemiological situation associated with the spread of COVID-19 in the country, companies under Rostec State Corporation sent a batch of Sputnik V vaccine to the Arab Republic of Egypt free of charge.

A plane carrying 8 thousand doses for vaccination of 4 thousand people landed at Cairo airport today. Assistance to the long-standing partner of Russia is aimed at strengthening the good and trusting relations of the partner countries.

“We are linked by strong economic and cultural ties. For several years we have been supporting archaeological research in Egypt, helping scientists discover the history of ancient civilizations. We are confident that our participation and support is needed to help friends who find themselves in a difficult situation with the spread of coronavirus. We hope that supply of the Russian vaccine will help Egypt fighting against the pandemic,” said the CEO of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov.

According to Rostec, trade turnover between Russia and Egypt amounts to tens of billions of dollars, a significant part of which is occupied by products from Rostec companies.
