The KardioRobot automated closed-chest cardiac massage system developed by Rostec’s Rosel was included by Roszdravnadzor into the state register of medical products. The smart device designed for closed-chest cardiac massage understands by itself when a patient needs urgent assistance. The new product is ready for use at medical facilities, commercial production has started.

Unlike manual closed-chest cardiac massage that can be carried effectively just for 2–3 minutes, the KardioRobot is battery-powered and can work continuously for up to 45 minutes. When the heart stops, the smart device is activated and adjusts compression pressure and depth by itself using data from sensors. The device informs medical personnel about its activity, charge level and potential failures. Audible alarms and display messages are used for this.

The KardioRobot provides continuous chest compressions for blood circulation in patients with sudden cardiac arrest. The device reduces workload on medical personnel making them available for other important resuscitation activities.

The project is being implemented by Research and Manufacturing Company Almaz (included in Rosel) with support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

The product will be used at resuscitation and intensive care units, ambulances, transplantation units and midwife centers.
