Rosoboronexport has organized manufacturing of the 3VBM17 Mango rounds with armor-piercing sub-caliber projectile in India. The 125mm ammunition is intended to engage armored vehicles with combined protection. The project is implemented under the Make in India program.

The Mango 125mm round is designed for firing from the T-72 and T-90 tank guns. Various modifications of these battle tanks are in service in the Indian Army.

“Rostec has considerable experience of industrial partnership with friendly countries. Many projects include technology transfer and competency exchange. Such partnership allows the importing country to develop domestic production – this is a competitive advantage of Rostec as one of the leading suppliers of defence solutions. Several such projects have been implemented in partnership with India. Among them is licensed production of the T-90 tanks, Mango rounds with armor-piercing sub-caliber projectile and other weapon systems. It is further planned to launch gunpowder manufacturing in India to ensure the highest degree of localization in production of the Mango rounds,” said Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rosteс State Corporation.

The Mango rounds include the 3BM42 fin-stabilized armor-piercing sub-caliber projectile. It is used to engage modern tanks equipped with combined protection.
