Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited, a joint venture between Russia and India registered and located in India, has produced and transferred 35 000 Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles to the Indian Ministry of Defence. Rosoboronexport and Kalashnikov Concern included in Rostec State Corporation are co-founders of the joint venture on the Russian side.

The Kalashnikov AK-308 assault rifle is an AK-200 version designed for the 7.62×39mm cartridge used by the Indian Army. The gun has traditional advantages offered by the Kalashnikov assault rifles: reliability and easy maintenance.

“Today India is the first foreign customer to produce the “two hundredth” series of the Kalashnikov assault rifles. The production has been deployed in India in full compliance with the Make In India and Self-Reliant India programs. The project includes technology transfer, and its concept implies 100% localization of the AK-203 production,” said Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rosteс State Corporation.

“Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited joint venture has completed the first phase of the project to produce the Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles in India. To increase the degree of localization, all necessary equipment has been shipped to the Korwa Ordnance Factory in Amethi, and the production facilities are now fully equipped. This made it possible to produce and deliver 35 000 Kalashnikov assault rifles to the Indian Army,” said Alexander Mikheev, General Director of Rosoboronexport.
