Rostec’s Shvabe holding has first showcased a new robotic laser demining system prototype at the Engineers of Future International Forum. A remotely operated crawler-mounted compact laser robot can neutralize explosive objects.

A powerful laser source neutralizes unexploded ordinances, mines and improvised explosive devices, including those furnished with proximity detonation sensors. Neutralization is performed by burning out the shell and fusing the explosive without detonation. The robot can demine hazardous objects at a distance of tens and hundreds of meters.

The robotic laser demining system was created by Shvabe together with its industry partners. It is battery powered and remotely controlled via a wireless link or optic fiber. The operating range achieves several kilometers to ensure full operator safety.

The system is equipped with a powerful fiber laser with unique laser beam quality, thermal imaging camera and high resolution aiming camera. A motor produces a velocity up to 25 km/h. The system has the best weight-size parameters and is ready for serial production.
