KAMAZ and Daimler Built a New Cabin Frame Plant

 

KAMAZ and Daimler, its strategic partner, jointly build a new cabin frame plant in Naberezhnye Chelny. Within the scope of this project, KAMAZ is fully responsible for building erection, while Daimler ensures production. To date the Russian automotive giant has fulfilled its obligations. Today the ceremony of handing over the symbolic keys was held at the new plant.

The commemorative event brought together at the plant about 240 guests including top managers of KAMAZ and foreign partners who represented such companies as Daimler, Kuka, Comau, Zeiss, Dürr. The Executive Director and First Deputy Director General of PJSC KAMAZ Yury Gerasimov handed symbolic keys to Jürgen Olberding, CEO of the Joint Venture Daimler KAMAZ Rus.

Looking back, KAMAZ and Daimler began joint construction of the cabin frame plant with a total area of 68 thousand m2 in March last year. The project provides for role allocation where KAMAZ is fully responsible for building erection on its territory, while DK RUS together with Daimler AG ensures production. To date KAMAZ has fulfilled its obligations, having invested about RUB 3 billion rubles in the plant construction.

The start of mass production at the plant is scheduled for January 2019. Plant capacity will compose 55 thousand units per year. New cabin frames will be delivered to both the KAMAZ main assembly conveyor and Mercedes-Benz truck assembly production.
