The Il-114-300 Regional Turboprop Airliner Passed a Heat Test

The test was held in Uzbekistan where the aircraft system performance was verified at a temperature up to +42 °C

A team of specialists from Il company included in United Aircraft Corporation has completed testing the Il-114-300 regional turboprop airliner in extremely high temperature conditions. The test data will be submitted to the airworthiness authorities and will help expand the issued type certificate. 

The prototype made a nonstop flight from Bukhara to the airfield of Flight Research Institute named after M.M.Gromov in Zhukovsky near Moscow. In Uzbekistan, the aircraft system performance was tested at an ambient ground air temperature up to +42 °C. 

The test program was designed to ensure the fullest evaluation of the aircraft behavior in tough climatic conditions. A total of 22 flights have been made. The Il-114-300 has flown more than 30 hours altogether.

“The successfully passed tests have confirmed that the Il-114-300 is ready for operation in southern hot regions. The aircraft is equipped with domestically built engines, avionics and digital flight and navigation system, which again proved to be resistant both to extreme cold and heat,” said Rostec’s representatives. 

Russia’s Il-114-300 turboprop aircraft is designed to develop regional air service and operation in a wide range of climatic zones — from arctic regions and Siberian frost to mountainous terrain and tropical, subtropical and hot climates. The aircraft can be operated autonomously from small airfields regardless of the ground infrastructure, including short runways. The aircraft is fully made of local components and is equipped with the TV7-117ST-01 engines designed by Rostec’s United Engine Corporation.
