NPK ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’ presented new brand name and development strategy for 2012-2020

NPK ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’, part of ‘Rostec’ corporation will be operating under the brand name ‘Schwabe’ after Fyodor Schwabe, one of the founders of the optic branch in Russia

 

New strategy aims at comprehensive dynamic development entering almost all global markets and increase of all economic indicators. By 2020 the share of civil products should have grown up to 50.4% from the current 25.4%. In particular the earnings from medical equipment sales will comprise RUR11.8 bln, from lighting equipment – RUR7,6 bln, from optic materials – RUR7.4 bln. In 2016-2017 it is planned to hold an IPO on one of the major stock exchanges, most likely on LSE.

October 25 in Moscow planetarium the presentation of the ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’ new brand name and development strategy took place. ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’ will be named Schwabe in honour of Fedor Schwabe, who founded one of the first optic devices manufacturing enterprises in Russia in 1837.

 “This rebranding is required to allow ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’ compete on equal terms with the world’s leading companies, for which brand name is one of the key assets, the major competitive advantage, - said ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’ Director General Sergey Maksin during the presentation. – It’s an important stage of the ‘Schwabe’ development strategy implementation, prepared under the auspices of ‘Rostec’ corporation”.

The strategy provides for an IPO by 2016-2017. “NPK ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’ is one  of the most investment-attractive ‘Rostec’ enterprises, - said Director General of ‘Rostec’ Sergey Chemezov. – IPO will help us solve large tasks, in particular, attract additional investments. The proceeds will be spent on the enterprises modernization, R&D and new products development”. 

According to the forecasts the sales volume will have grown up to RUR82.3 bln by 2020, which is over 400% the 2011 amount. At the same time the share of export in sales will be about 20%. The profitability should comprise 10.1% in 2020 compared to 2.8% of 2011. Net profit should increase up to RUR8.3 bln compared to RUR581 mln in 2011. The increase in net income and profitability will be achieved due to a gradual decrease in enterprises expenditures, restructuring of products sales and manufacturing processes optimization.

Total assets will have grown up to RUR97.3 bln by 2020 compared to RUR21.1 bln in 2011. The assets will have increased by 432% by 2020. Significant changes in the authorized capital and net assets are expected in 2013 due to the shares holding revaluation and transfer to the parent company and in 2017 due to the IPO. EBITDA will have grown up to RUR15.7 bln by 2020 compared to RUR2.5 bln in 2011. 

‘Schwabe’ Holding Company unites domestic optoelectronic branch enterprises. It consists of 19 organizations including research and manufacturing associations, design bureaus, state optic institutes and enterprises. It designs and manufactures high technology optoelectronic systems of military and civil purpose, optic materials, medical equipment, energy saving lighting equipment. The Holding was founded in 2008 and is a part of ‘Rostec’ corporation. Until November 2012 it was operating under the name NPK ‘Optical Systems and Technologies’. Its Director General is Sergey Vasilyevich Maksin. The Holding exports its products to 83 countries.

‘Rostec’ was established in November 2007 to support Russian industry in developing, producing and exporting high-tech industrial products. The corporation includes 22 directly managed companies and 17 holdings, of which 12 are in the defence sector and five in civil industry. In total ‘Rostec’ comprises about 600 companies. The corporation has its headquarters in Moscow, and has a presence in 60 of Russia’s regions. It exports its products to 70 countries. Director General of ‘Rostec’ is Sergey Viktorovich Chemezov.
