Rostec State Corporation has held the third corporate chess championship. Five hundred professionals from across the country participated in the qualification tournament. Forty three finalists fought for the title of Rostec’s best chess players. Prizes were given to the winners by famous grandmasters Sergey Karjakin and Aleksandra Goryachkina. 

The first Rostec’s corporate chess championship was held in 2022 to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the State Corporation. Eighteen Rostec’s holding companies joined the first tournament. Now their number has grown to 23.

Forty three employees competed in the final games that were held at the Central Chess House in Moscow. Winners of the men’s and women’s tournaments were selected from after seven rounds. Elena Kuzmenko from KRET Concern won the first prize in the women’s tournament. 

Roman Novoselov from VSMPO-AVISMA won the first prize in the men’s tournament. Thus, he became the triple Rostec chess champion. 

By tradition, the prizes were given to the winners by honored guests — famous grandmasters Sergey Karjakin and Aleksandra Goryachkina. The professional sportsmen acknowledged the high strength of the players, intensity of the battle for prizes and well-chosen competition format — rapid chess, where the average game time is equal to 15 minutes. 

The prize money for winning the tournament was 100,000 rubles, 50,000 and 25,000 rubles for second and third places, respectively.
