Yakovlev company (included in Rostec’s United Aircraft Corporation) has carried out a series of MC-21 flights for demonstrating the aircraft performance. In particular, the МС-21-310 with a payload corresponding to 175 passengers has covered more than 3800 kilometers. At the same time, the aircraft is undergoing a certification flight test program.
The long-range flight followed a typical profile that simulated the real operation mode as close as possible. “A range longer than 3800 km has been recorded, with a payload equal to 175 passengers and standard fuel reserve,” said Vitaly Naryshkin, Chief Designer of the MC-21, after completion of the flights.
“The equipment worked properly. The pre-defined amount of remaining fuel was kept, including the en-route reserve and all additional divert fuel,” said Roman Taskaev, Director for Flight Testing at Yakovlev, Hero of Russia.
A single-engine-out takeoff capability was also demonstrated during the flights. The take-off distance and rate-of-climb met the design parameters.
The MC-21 is a new generation medium-range passenger aircraft. The airliner has been created on the basis of the latest design solutions and is oriented to the most popular segment of the passenger carrier market. Advanced aerodynamics, the PD-14 engines made by United Engine Corporation included in Rostec and cutting-edge systems provide high aircraft performance.
