Russia’s first green power plant owned by RT-Invest has supplied almost 2 million kW to the grid. The facility handled more than 19,000 tons of municipal waste just within a month.
The plant is located in the Moscow region. The facility uses advanced energy recovery technologies equivalent to solutions used at plants in Finland, Switzerland and other countries. The plant was put into operation at the end of December 2024.
The green power plant is able to convert 700,000 tons of non-recyclable waste per year. The plant will return 520 million kW*h of energy per year. This is enough to provide electricity to a town with population of about 80,000 people.
Besides this facility, RT-Invest will open three plants in the Moscow region and one plant in Tatarstan. Five green power plants will generate in total more than 2,200,000 Mw*h of energy per year.
The facilities use the traveling grate incineration technology for waste recovery. There are a total of more than 2,500 grate-type incinerators with a capacity of 350 million tons of waste per year in the world. This is a cutting-edge technology: advanced gas treatment systems are used to achieve an emission level below the international environmental standards.
