Rosel holding included in Rostec State Corporation has completed testing and started commercial production of the Vulkan magnetic reed sensors. They are designed for high-pressure steam piping as part of control and alarm systems of nuclear power plants. The products are designed for operation in extreme temperature conditions, have a long cycle life and don’t need power supply.
The devices are mounted inside steam pipe gate valves and control the gate valve closing process. The products can function at temperatures up to 350°C and are designed for 5 bln actuations.
The Vulkan withstands impacts with acceleration of 150g, i.e. an accidental impact during operation will not damage the product. The sensors have seismic category I and withstand even the safe shutdown earthquake. The products don’t need power supply, have smaller dimensions than traditional Hall sensors. Due to its stainless steel housing, the Vulkan service life is up to 12 years.
Reed switches are widely used in home appliances, automotive, medical and telecommunications equipment, control and security systems. They are used as contact pairs in circuit breakers, toggle switches, pushbuttons, proximity switches, speed and acceleration transducers, travel and signal distribution indicators, converters of nonelectrical values into electrical signals.
