Rostec State Corporation has started commercial production of the Apollo MRI, Russia’s first MR-conditional pacemaker. The device is designed for patients with severe heart rhythm problems. The product is showcased at Rostec’s exposition at the Biprom-2024 International Forum.

The MR-conditional Apollo MRI pacemaker is implanted under the skin and continuously monitors heat rate and rhythm. The device is adaptable to individual patient’s physiology. Due to the heart function data accumulation capability, a doctor is provided with a true patient health record and can adjust the treatment plan.

The main advantage of the Apollo MRI is in that it allows patients with this pacemaker to undergo MRI examinations without any restrictions, which is impossible when using traditional products. This opens access to modern diagnosis techniques and increases treatment efficacy.

“The priority mission of Rostec includes the development of modern medical devices, in particular, vital and essential ones. The launch of commercial production of Russia’s first MR-conditional pacemaker is an important step in the development of the national medical device industry. By 2027, we plan to ramp up production and achieve the output of up to 5,000 products per year. This will not only provide access to modern and safe technologies for Russian patients, but will also help reduce the dependence on imported cardiovascular devices,” said Sergey Dmitrochenko, General Director of RT-Medical Technologies.
