Tula-based Oktava plant has delivered the first batch of the Obereg-S mine resistant armor vests to a humanitarian mine clearing party for operations in the new Russian regions. A lot of mines and unexploded ordinance are still present in LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions and require appropriate outfit for demining. The Obereg-S, in contrast to equivalent products, is light-weight, portable and, at the same time, has a large ballistic protection area.

The new armor vest is specifically designed for bomb technicians and differs from the basic Obereg family designed to stop small arms bullets. The Obereg-S has a special design with increased ballistic protection area. In addition, mine resistant armor vests feature light weight – only up to 5kg.

In the Obereg-S, ceramic armor plates are replaced with special protection Class S2 and Br1+ ballistic packages. They withstand the impact of pistol bullets and fragments and protect against the basic types of modern landmines. The outfit has an adjustable collar, therefore, there are no gaps when using a helmet with visor, therefore penetration of fragments in the neck and face areas is prevented. The body armor has a groin pad. The product made in Tula allows working in a one-knee position.
