The Omsk Transport Machine Building Plant, part of the Uralvagonzavod concern of Rostec State Corporation, has certified the PTS-PS (“ARK”) floating tracked search and rescue transporter. Now this vehicle is available to civilian customers.
The floating transporter was created at Omsktransmash as part of its diversification in 2016. The vehicle is a civilian version of the PTS-4 transporter: it has no weapons but its engine and transmission are specialized. Also, the design of the cockpit has changed significantly, which has become more spacious, ergonomic and made of composite materials.
Its main task is to carry out search and rescue operations in disaster zones such as floods and fires. The versatility of the design allows it to easily move both on water and on land where it can evacuate people and transport cars and various goods. This versatility inspired the PTS-PS trademark in English – “ARK”, which Omsktransmash registered in 2018.
“When developing the PTS-PS, the main task was to preserve all the main characteristics of the floating carrier but at the same time make it available for civilian purposes. Omsktransmash specialists have completed this design task and now we are ready to present this reliable machine with its wide range of capabilities”, said Andrey Sabaev, General Designer of Omsktransmash.
