Rostec’s STAN Machine-Building Holding has assembled a prototype of the ST-01 milling head for five-axis machines. The new product is designed for high precision machining of titanium and aluminium components for civil aircraft engineering and shipbuilding. It will replace similar products from Germany, Italy and China.

Milling head is one of key and sophisticated assemblies of a milling machining center for CNC machines. Its components shall ensure high reliability, geometrical accuracy, vibration, high temperature and dynamic load resistance.

The ST-01 features unparalleled design solutions and has just a few counterparts in the world. The head is designed for the SK6P five-axis machines and allows for multi-faceted and high precision machining of composite curved surfaces and profiled parts without workpiece adjustment.

In civil aviation, the ST-01 can be used for high quality machining of aluminium and titanium airframe structure, longerons and ribs. In power industry, it is used for machining steam and gas turbine casings, generators, and large-size flanges. In shipbuilding, such equipment is indispensable for machining propellers, shaft lines and steering components. In heavy machine tool engineering, similar milling heads are used to manufacture beds, columns and tables for other machines.
