The Angara launch vehicle carrying the Orion booster and test payload has been launched today. The launch vehicle support systems have been developed and manufactured by Uralkriomash included in Concern Uralvagonzavod.

“Successful launch of the Angara-A5 is a great event for the country as a whole and for Tagil-based cryogenic engineers. It is a demonstration of professionalism and a result of wide-scale effective work made by unrivaled Uralkriomash team. Since 2012, the company has been participating in the cosmodrome infrastructure development under the Federal Space Program established to strengthen and develop the national space potential,” pointed out Dmitry Skoropupov, General Director of the company.

Uralkriomash has developed and manufactured three systems for the Vostochny Cosmodrome under the Federal Space Program: liquid oxygen loading system for the booster, naphthyl charging system and pad cooling water system.

The Angara is an environment-friendly launch vehicle that does not use toxic fuel components. Naphtil has been selected as fuel for the Orion booster. Tagil-based engineering team made a new 15-5107 railway tank car for propellant (naphtil) transportation, storage and delivery at the Vostochny Cosmodrome. A pilot batch was delivered to the customer at the end of 2023.
