Rostec has Created a Unique Custom-Design Prosthetic Arm

Moscow Manufacturing Group Metallist (MPO Metallist) has developed a prosthetic arm – an active pulling attachment for 3 to 7 year old children. Custom design, 3D printing technology and advanced metalworking techniques make the product unique in its kind and unparalleled in the domestic market.

The prosthesis is designed for children with birth arm defect or amputation. It is used for active grasping, holding of items and execution of various fine movements. The product is driven by elbow flexion. This is followed by cable tension to release the attachment parts. Using the active attachment, a child can keep the muscles toned up and more easily adapt himself/herself in future to any other type of prosthesis, including bionic one.

“Our professionals made a prosthesis that meets all modern pediatric prosthetic criteria. We managed to consider all needs of little patients and combine functionality and attractive look in a single design. As a result, we have created an ergonomic product weighing only 88 g. Our prosthesis looks like a toy. It is designed as a toucan with a bright beak. We hope that the prosthesis will become an indispensable helper for children,” pointed out Eduard Yanushenko, General Director of MPO Metallist.
