Licensed production of infrared imaging equipment based on Shvabe holding (former 'Optical systems and technologies') and Thales Optronics (France)

Volzhskiy Optical-mechanical Plant (VOMP) belonging to Shvabe holding and Thales company, IT systems designing and manufacturing leader, signed a memorandum concerning defence and aerospace industry electronic systems cooperation in 2009.

The JV produces licensed Catherine FC infrared imaging equipment. The thermal imagery device detects targets in any lightning and zero visibility conditions. Catherine FC is used for ESSA, PLISA and Sosna-U sighting devices made for Russian armour.

Sophie MF night binocular expanding warfare opportunities is among the joint projects. The manufacturers guarantee high accuracy target detecting be it aircrafts, air-assault means or people.

In June, 2012 the parties signed a contract concerning the production of Catherine XP 3rd generation cameras based on QWIP matrix approach. The device is smaller than its precedents, has higher resolution and target detection rate better performance. Catherine XP is to be applied on the armour machines used by Russian Army  and Russian export devices.
