Rostec to Develop UEC Based Additive Technologies Center in Association with South Korea Partners

The Rostec State Corporation and the administration of Gyeonggi province have signed a memorandum of cooperation. According to the document, Rostec will partner with the most high-tech region of South Korea in such areas of industry as machine tools building, machine building, advanced materials, development and production of electronic component base, electronics and optics.

Residents of the province of Gyeonggi are tens of thousands of Korean companies, including world-famous corporations: Samsung, Hyundai, KIA Motors, LG Group and others, as well as over 3,000 foreign companies.

Tens of thousands of Korean companies are based in Gyeonggi province, including global corporations such as Samsung, Hyundai, KIA Motors, LG Group and others, as well as over 3 thousand international companies. The memorandum of cooperation with the largest industrial region of South Korea was signed by Dmitry Lelikov, Deputy Director General of Rostec State Corporation, and Lee Jae Yul, Vice Governor of Gyeonggi province.

The cooperation supposes to combine the potential of Russian science and technology companies and technological resources of South Korea, as well as partnership in the field of investment and trade. One of the promising areas for cooperation is the creation of of Rostec State Corporation Additive Technologies Center based on the subsidiary holding company of UEC. The project is expected to be developed with support from the Korea Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center, KAMIC.

“Additive technologies help to manufacture serial products three times faster while keeping the process several times more cost effective. 20% or above of the components for complex machinery, such as gas-turbine engines, reduction gears, helicopters, could be made using the additive technologies in the nearest future. The partnership with the KAMIC will allow us to enhance our competence in this area and use the experience of South Korean partners in similar Rostec State Corporation projects”, Dmitry Lelikov commented.
