Russian Helicopters Launched Manufacture of Military Version of Mi-38

Kazan helicopters plant (KVZ) within the Russian helicopters holding started assembly of the first developmental model under Ministry of Defence contractual commitments for procurement of Mi-38T to the Ministry of Defence in 2018.

Developmental model will be tested in joint flight tests for compliance with the requirements of armed forces. Hereafter according to the tests results Mi-38T helicopter procurements will be planned under the State arms program 2018-2025.

“We managed to launch manufacturing of the state-of-the-art machine for which no analogs had existed for the whole history of national helicopter industry” – announced Russian helicopters holding Director General Andrey Boginskiy.

Moreover he expressed confidence that Mi-38T will be highly sought in Russia and in the foreign countries as far as customers relatively frequently face up the situations where advanced load-bearing capacity and gross horsepower-to-combat weight ratio of helicopter are required.

Mi-38T is a military version of medium multifunctional helicopter Mi-38. Due to engineering solutions Mi-38 excels other helicopters within its class in terms of load-bearing capacity, passenger capacity and numerous aircraft performance characteristics. It can be applied in a wide range of climate conditions including sea, tropics and low temperatures.

Military Mi-38T differs from standard certified Mi-38 by several parameters and equipment particles. Specifically, Mi-38T is planned to be equipped with fuel delivery system with explosion protection and additional fuel tanks for improvement of flying distance characteristics.
