Rostec State Corporation has created IGLA Rocket, a new high-velocity hunting cartridge. It achieves a muzzle velocity more than 1000 meters per second. Fully domestically built product is designed to replace the foreign 308Win on the Russian market.
Unprecedented muzzle velocity provides reliable target kill and flat trajectory. A new cartridge, in particular, will allow short-barreled rifles to be used for hunting, it also gives high velocity and accuracy in this case. The bullet of the new ammunition achieves the maximum velocity in a gun with a barrel of at least 28 inches.
“There have always been hunters in Russia in the past and present, and well into the future. And no sanctions can interfere. Foreign suppliers, including exclusive distributors, have got out of the market — so much the worse for them. Instead, our gunmakers offer ammunition with comparable and even better quality. The new Rocket is distinguished by high bullet velocity and accuracy. Taking into account its high power, cartridge components have been selected so that to maintain safe chamber pressure on firing,” said Rostec’s representatives.
OPTIMUM, BIOR and MAGNUM shotgun and canister cartridges are also made under Rostec’s brand name IGLA. VECTOR cartridges are another new solution. They contain a luminous element designed to visually track the shot. The Match 160, Shakal 141 and 160 cartridges have been also brought to market as part of the 308Win product line and are also distinguished by high accuracy, but have a standard bullet velocity.
Moreover, anti-drone cartridges, which contain high-strength shot and can hit small drones at a range of up to 100 meters, are made under the brand name IGLA. They are currently widely used in combat.
