Rosel holding included in Rostec State Corporation has supplied the first batch of the Vulkan magnetic contact sensors to the customer. They are designed for high-pressure steam piping, for example, as part of control and alarm systems of nuclear power plants. The products are designed for several billion actuations, withstand heavy impacts, earthquakes and high temperatures, and can work without power supply. 

The devices are mounted inside steam pipe gate valves and control the gate valve closing process. The products can operate at temperatures up to 350 °C, withstand impacts with an acceleration of 150g and have seismic category I, i.e. can withstand even the safe shutdown earthquake. Due to their stainless steel housing, the sensors can be used for up to 12 years. 

The reed sensors don’t require power supply, have smaller dimensions than traditional Hall sensors and demonstrate high reliability — up to 5 bln actuations. 

It should be pointed out that the scope of application of reed switches covers several industries from home appliances and automotive industry to medicine, communications and security systems. In end-user equipment, these components serve as contact groups for all kinds of switches.
