Azimuth production company included in Rostec State Corporation has modernized the ILS 2700 instrument landing system at Domodedovo airport. The system will provide flight safety and high capacity for one of Russia’s heavily loaded air hubs.
The ILS 2700 provides aircraft landing in adverse weather conditions. The system is used to send information about runway proximity, localizer and glideslope deviation during approach.
The main specifications and performance of the ILS 2700 meet the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) requirements and guidelines. All instruments have redundancy where backup components automatically replace failed ones. Therefore local failures don’t affect the operation of the whole system. Airport personnel can remotely operate ground-based system beacons and conduct their health monitoring from the control tower workstations.
The ILS 2700 has been already used at other airports in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Abkhazia.
