Zhukovsky Airport Receives European Union Certificate

JSC «ZhIA Cargo», the operator of cargo and mail services at Zhukovsky International Airport, developed with the support of Rostec State Corporation, has completed the process of receiving the RA-3 (Regulated Agent Third Country) certificate, which is a prerequisite for simplified organization of air cargo transportation to the European Union. Zhukovsky became the second airport in Russia that fully possesses this competence.

RA-3 status is a recent aviation security standard from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). From July 2014, all cargo destined for or traveling through the European Union needed to be transported along a verified and approved supply chain, which was achieved through the registration of ACC3 (Air Cargo Carrier third country) status. The RA-3 status for cargo operators completely changes the procedures: now all air carriers will be able to automatically use the right to transport goods to the EU, which allows any (including European) airlines to freely perform operations through Zhukovsky.

This certificate confirms that all the required inspection methods have been professionally applied to shipments serviced by «ZhIA Cargo», which guarantees compliance with EU security procedures for any type of cargo. This is sufficient for organizing charter cargo transportation. The work on busy regular (including passenger) lines is also simplified: relying on «ZhIA Cargo» as an acting RA-3 agent, an airline can obtain permanent ACC3 status as soon as possible, without carrying out a complex audit.

A new cargo terminal was opened in Zhukovsky on July 9, 2020. Today «ZhIA Cargo» operates around the clock, providing a full range of services for handling all categories of cargo, including bulky and heavy, valuable, perishable, dangerous, express cargo and live animals. The services provided include ground handling and warehouse storage of regular and special cargo, provision of transfer of goods traveling through Zhukovsky airport, provision of expedited acceptance and delivery of goods, and information support for clients.
