Shvabe Will Open the Centers of Nuclear and Protonic Therapy in Primorye

Shvabe holding group has signed the agreement of intent about the realization of the investment project on the Primorsk Territory with the regional administrative office and Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The document determines the job description of every participant in frames of the construction of high-tech centers for cancer diagnosis and therapy.

The holding will organize the center of nuclear medicine in modular-type on the basis of PET-CT department of the functional Medical center of the Far Eastern Federal University on the Russky Island a few kilometers from Vladivostok. Due to its modular-type the launch will take not more than nine months. In particular, Shvabe will provide the production and assembling of the high-tech equipment for the positron-emission tomography as well as commissioning tests and securing local approvals. Upon preliminary information the medical services will be available here in the fourth quarter of this year.

In the course of the second center developing this year the participants of the project will form the work group and maintain the business plan. At this stage, it`s planned to determine the configuration of the medical facility, discuss the staff training, conduct research activities and present the project to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

In total in frames of Russian-Japanese project, in which the corporation Hitachi Ltd. is involved from the Japanese side, it is planned to launch not less than four centers of protonic cancer therapy on the Russian territory. All of them will be based on the leading institutions of higher education: Far Eastern Federal University, Moscow State University, National Medical Research Center of Radiology, Novosibirsk State University and others.
