Rostec State Corporation-affiliated Russian Helicopters Holding will unveil the latest heavy Mi-26T2V helicopter at the International Military-Technical Forum Army-2018. It was developed for the Russian Ministry of Defense. The machine’s prototype was fabricated by Rostvertol and will be airborne for the first time in the near future.

The helicopter is supposed to fly to the Army-2018 Forum under its own power. Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant specialists will carry out of Mi-26T2V pretesting once the forum is over. The machine will be transferred to the military for state testing upon the preliminary trial completion.

"Being the world's largest commercially produced helicopter, Mi-26 is used to perform extraordinary tasks which other machines are not capable of. Each unit of the new machine must provide supreme performance. The Mi-26Т2V onboard equipment will make the helicopter all the more efficient and reliable even in bad weather and rugged topography conditions ", said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of Russian Helicopters.

An integrated NPK90-2V cutting edge avionics complex, which greatly simplifies flying the helicopter, will differ it from the basic Mi-26 model. In addition, the helicopter is equipped with a digital flight system, and the cabin is fitted with colored multifunctional LCD displays that significantly reduce the crew stressing. Besides, Mi-26T2V has been furnished with a new onboard defense complex called "Vitebsk", which is capable of both detecting threats to the helicopter and to protect from engaging assault weapons.

Mi-26T2 lighting devices have been adapted to use night vision goggles and new ergonomic crew seats have been installed in the helicopter cabin. The navigation system and satellite-referenced communication means of the helicopter have been improved too.
